Secondary origins

What is secondary origin

We support configuring secondary origins for failover and load balancing (between sources).

How to configure secondary origins

You can configure secondary origins by going to CDN Resources ->Add new CDN resource.

When adding new CDN resources, secondary origins can be configured. But pay attention to the following rules:

  1. Only supports configuring up to three origins.

  2. Support URL or IP when there is only one origin; But with the addition of new sources, only IP addresses are allowed to be used.

  3. Three source addresses cannot be duplicate.

Origin Policy

What is origin policy

The origin policy of LightCDN allows you to set the protocol for pull requests from CDN edge servers to origin servers.

How to set origin policy

You can set the origin policy in Resource Details → Advanced Settings. Select HTTP, HTTPS, or AUTO from the origin policy selection box, as shown in the following figure.

How does "AUTO" work

When the 'Origin policy' is set to 'AUTO' (80/443), the protocol used by the CDN edge server to extract content from the origin server is determined by the protocol used in the corresponding CDN URL.

Tips

  1. Setting the origin policy to AUTO will only have an effect when SSL is enabled for CDN services.
  2. If you have set up secondary origins, requests from secondary origins will also be set according to the same origin policy.
